NEW YORK   , Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks closed slightly higher on Friday as investors were digesting the latest inflation data.


The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 14.31 points, or 0.07 percent, to 21,858.32. The S&P 500 gained 3.11 points, or 0.13 percent, to 2,441.32. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 39.68 points   , or 0.64 percent, to 6,256.56.


The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers rose 0.1 percent in July on a seasonally adjusted basis, the U.S. Labor Department reported Friday, lower than market consensus of a 0.2-percent gain. Over the last 12 months, the all items index rose 1.7 percent.


The soft inflation data raised market expectation for the Federal Reserve to hold lower interest rates longer this year.


Just 38 percent of investors expected the central bank to rates again at the end of the year, down from about 45 percent   , according to the latest CME Group's FedWatch tool.


In corporate news, U.S. social media company Snap posted a larger-than-expected loss and smaller-than-expected revenue, sending the stock down more than 10 percent.


Moreover, gains of the stocks were muted on Friday as tension between the United States and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) persisted.

SEYNE-LES-ALPES, France, March 25 (Xinhua) -- French President Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy arrived Wednesday afternoon at Vernet in southern France   , where they are expected to meet some families of the victims arrived also this afternoon.


An Airbus A320 of German budget airline Germanwings with 150 people onboard crashed Tuesday in southern France en route from Barcelona to Duesseldorf.


According to Le Figaro, the first families already arrived in Digne-les-Bains, where they were received by the prefecture.

However, Spanish government reported Wednesday at least 49 Spanish citizens were killed in the crash.


In addition   , victims were also from Britain, the Netherlands, Colombia, Mexico, Japan, Denmark, Belgium   , Israel, Australia, Argentina, Iran, Venezuela and the United States, said Germanwings.

JAKARTA   , Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia will face Fiji in a soccer friendly match at the weekend, coach Luis Milla said here on Wednesday.


The match will be played on Saturday in Patriot Chandrabaga sport stadium in Bekasi, an outskirt city of Indonesia's capital.


"We need only 19 players in the tryout match against Fiji," said Milla.


The match will be the third time for both countries to play each other. Indonesia and Fiji played two World Cup qualifiers in 1982, both ended in draws.

PANAMA CITY, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Panama's world boxing champion Guillermo "El Felino" Jones Monday denied accusations he resorted to ***** to gain an advantage in his fight against Russia's Denis Lebedev in May.


Jones, who holds a World Boxing Association (WBA) title in the cruiserweight category, told the Panamanian daily Critica in a phone interview that he did not use any banned substances to drop weight before the fight against Lebedev, which he won by knockout in Round 11.


According to the daily, Jones said "my promoter (Don King) told me they will handle this situation, that I shouldn't worry. I'm calm and I'm not worried   , because we are fine and, as I said, all this about doping is an excuse from the Russians. I won the fight. "


On Friday, the WBA reported Jones' title was "under review" due to suspicions of doping.


Jones and Lebedev had until Monday to authorize the opening of a B test to confirm the results of an initial test that allegedly indicated the presence of a weightloss substance in Jones' urine.
